Materials List:

  • 24 Size 11 Delica Beads (Color A)

  • 24 Size 11 Delica Beads (Color B)

  • 24 Size 11 Delica Beads (Color C)

  • 24 Size 11 Delica Beads (Color D)

  • 20 Size 15 Galvanized Silver Seed Beads

  • 1 pair Antique Silver French Hook Earring Findings

  • 1 Big Eye Beading Needle

  • 1 yard 8 lb. Fireline

Step 1:  Thread your needle about a third of the way down your thread.  String 3 Delica Color A and 3 Delica Color B onto the needle and down toward the end of the thread.

Step 2:  Pass the needle through the Delicas on the thread again, starting with Delica Color A and ending with Delica Color B, taking care to include all of the beads without missing any.  Pull the work tight so that beads become a circle.  The rows won't lay flat immediately but will straighten as you work.

Step 3:  String 3 Delica Color C onto your needle.  Pass the needle through the beads in the Delica Color B row from the empty side (no thread) towards the side where your thread is exiting.  Tighten your work.

Step 4:  Pass the needle through the Delica Color C beads in the row that you've just added so that your thread is coming out of the opposite side.  This step straightens the rows and allows us to move the thread to location where we can easily add the next row in the correct place.

Step 5:  String 3 Delica Color D onto your needle.  Pass the needle through the beads in the Delica Color C row from the empty side (no thread) towards the side where your thread is exiting.  Tighten your work.  You may begin to notice that our thread passes are making circles that are always going in the same direction.

Step 6:  Pass the needle through beads in the Delica Color D row that you've just added so that your thread is coming out of the opposite side.  Continue to adjust and tighten your work making sure to straighten the rows with each step.

Step 7:  Continue adding rows in this way until you have completed 15 rows.

Step 8:  To reinforce and straighten your work, you'll need to weave the thread back through each of the bead rows until you've reached the first row.  Start by passing the needle through the row second from last.  Pull your work tight.  Take the needle back and forth through the third row of beads (from last), then the fourth, then the fifth, etc., pulling tight and adjusting tension as you work, until you've reached the beginning of your project.  Your working thread should be exiting the beads opposite the tail end.

Step 9:  String 4 Size 15 Seed Beads onto your needle.  Pass the needle through the row of Delica Color A beads from the tail end side to the working thread side.

Step 10:  Pass the needle through the 4 Size 15 Seed Beads you've just added so that the thread is coming out of the opposite side.  Tighten your work.

Step 11:  String 3 Size 15 Seed Beads onto your needle.  Pass the needle through the row of 4 Size 15 Seed Beads from the empty side to the side that your working thread is exiting.  Tighten your work.

Step 12:  Pass the needle through the 3 Size 15 Seed Beads you've just added so that the thread is coming out of the opposite side.  Tighten your work and center the 3 Size 15 Seed Beads directly above the row beneath it.  This will start to taper the design.

Step 13:  String 2 Size 15 Seed Beads onto your needle.  Pass the needle through the row of 3 Size 15 Seed Beads from the empty side to the side that your working thread is exiting.  Tighten your work.

Step 14:  Pass the needle through the 2 Size 15 Seed Beads you've just added so that the thread is coming out of the opposite side.  Tighten your work and center the 2 Size 15 Seed Beads directly above the row beneath it, continuing the taper.

Step 15:  String 1 Size 15 Seed Bead onto your needle.  Pass the needle through the row of 2 Size 15 Seed Beads from the empty side to the side that your working thread is exiting.  Tighten your work.

Step 16:  Pass the needle through the 1 Size 15 Seed Bead you've just added so that the thread is coming out of the opposite side.  Tighten your work and center the 1 Size 15 Seed Bead directly above the row beneath it to complete the taper.

Step 17:  String directly through the earring finding, making sure there is little to no opening from which the thread could escape.  Pass the needle though 1 Size 15 Seed bead from the empty side to the side where your working thread is exiting.  Tighten your work and straighten your earring finding.

Step 18:  Continue the thread passes back down through the bead rows to reinforce and straighten your work.  Continue working down into the Delica Bead rows to bury the threads.

Step 19:  Trim the tail ends flush to your work.  Repeat these steps to create another earring.
